Hi Matthew - a reply from a volunteer receptionist, weird...not really as you ask for replies, after being on holiday for a while I am looking forward to getting back behind the desk at reception as a volunteer receptionist, as spring is on its way..or it was when i was out walking this morning, snowdrops peeping through the soil, birds singing, it made me think, maybe i will use this to put out a plea for more volunteers to join us at the mill. Its a great way to spend a few hours, inside a beautiful building, steeped in history with a stunning view, on the banks of the river Derwent, near the beautiful Victorian river gardens.
You will meet lots of interesting people who come into the Mill , for help, advice and information as well as guided or self guided tours of the mill. And we all have a pleasant and enjoyable time there too. So come and join us as a volunteer its great

Hello. I am writing a booklet for children with profound learning disabilities and would like to take photos of the cotton processes involved in producing cotton cloth.
Do you have any photos I could use, or would it be possible to visit and take some photos?
Thank you very much.

my English cousin recently visited your site and sent me the link. i live in Pawtucket, RI, USA where Samuel Slater set up a milll after he left yours, we understand. i can see it from the window of the mill i now live in, which is just across the river, and not as old as Slater Mill. see slatermill.org (i'm sure you know all this, but it is wonderful that we have the family connection ourselves that Samuel had 200 + years ago...
